Old fashioned makedo has a crow or blackbird sitting on top of a large strawberry.
Both the crow and the strawberry are sewn from wool felt. The blackbird has black bead eyes and stitched wings. The strawberry's seeds are French knots that were made with black embroidery floss and the leaf veins of the strawberry's green cap are stitched as well.
The base of the makedo is a wooden candlestick holder that was painted black, sanded stained and sealed with a matte acrylic finish. The makedo stands about 12 1 /2 inches tall from the bottom to the top back of the crow.
The only glue used in this project was to hold the bottom tip of the strawberry into the base. The strawberry blackbird makedo was handcrafted by us here at Little Coon Creek from a pattern by One Prim Gal.
